Report by Russell and Rachel

We really should have had stickers to hand out saying “I was very brave on my tandem today” as, just when we wanted the weather forecast to be wrong, it was spot on and the rain was as stonkingly heavy (and long-lasting) as predicted! It would have been a lovely ride with far-reaching views over the Hampshire countryside but, sadly, the views were hidden by the clouds and no-one really wanted to stop and admire. Lunch at The Yew Tree, Lower Wield, was good and gave us a chance to dry out then, on with the soggy jackets again for an hour’s ride to afternoon tea in Alton and a final hour back to the start point in Farnham. The afternoon’s ride was a bit dryer so we stopped to investigate Massey’s Folly in Farringdon but, really, the best bit was getting those wet socks off at the end of the day. Thanks to the 6 intrepid tandemists who joined us and showed great skill in keeping their bikes upright (and spirits buoyant) in such slippery conditions and a special mention to Richard and Anne who rode an extra 3 miles to and from their campsite.

More information on Massey's Folly can be found here.
