An up and down morning going directly to lunch at the Boars Head in ...Boarshead!

A gentle and short ride back after lunch - about 32 miles total. Can be extended or shortened depending on weather, punctures, after Xmas lethargy, new year enthusiasm etc.

Not long after leaving Forest Row, we started climbing to the top of the Ashdown Forest. After a fast downhill stretch we turned off to Fairwarp and Heron's Ghyll. After yet more hills, there was a testing stretch of muddy and broken-up old road. This brought us nearly to our lunchtime pub. Amy cycled over to join us for lunch. She admitted to being rather sore and was particularly glad that the return to Forest Row was both easy and flat - compared to the morning's fare! Although it was a pleasant day we were glad to escape the wind by retreating to a café on our return to Forest Row. Thanks to everyone who joined us.
