Ride by Chris and Helen

*****Ride and report by Helen and Chris

Keen to make the best of a spring day, we met a little earlier for our May ride to allow time for a coffee stop. Although it was rather windy, the well matched group of six tandems made a good pace to elevenses at The Reeds rural-life museum near Tilford. It’s usually quiet on a Sunday morning but turned out to be busy with a special event: Village at War meant the place was thronged with people in 1940s outfits, and we got to see a steam train!

There were cycling events going on too. By chance we came across the Cut Mill road-race, a time-trial on the A31, and a charity ride from Farnham. Happily there were no other groups at our lunch place – The Golden Pot near Alton.

With the wind behind, we sped through Binstead and stopped in the sunshine for a Meadow Cottage Farm ice-cream. There was another pause when we encountered a pair of Greylag Geese in the road with a gaggle of tiny fluffy goslings.

Tea and cake rounded off a good day out.
