December

report by Liz & Ken

We had two rides in December again this year, the first Sunday saw 4 tandems on a pre Christmas lunch ride from Pembury to Yalding for coffee and back. We all met up with an additional 5 people who came for the meal only. Thanks to Pauline and Cliff, the Kent ROs, who organised this day for us all. After the meal we presented Phil and Verna with the Surrey and Sussex Most Rides Trophy for 2014 – congratulations to them and we hope they have a great Christmas out in New Zealand.

Our normal ride on the second Sunday was, I think it has to be said, a poorly attended affair, with just ourselves and Dave and Caroline. However we had a good ride with a stop for coffee in Hailsham followed by a nice trip up the Cuckoo Trail to Horam. Just as we were about to turn off the trail we came across a group of cyclists including Mick Hills, we haven’t seen him for quite a while and it was nice to catch up with him. After lunch in Chiddingly there was a puncture to mend (Caroline, perhaps Dave would like new tyres for Christmas!). It wasn’t too far back home and we more or less made it before the rain started. With only four of us it meant that there was no shortage of mince pies and cakes to round off the day.
