Ride by Dave, Caroline and maybe Christopher

Report by Caroline It was fine cycling weather when 19 of us met up at the car park in Lingfield. We were glad to see two new members – Ian and Maureen. We set off along the pleasant lanes winding past the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy. Continuing through Marsh Green and Hever, swooping down from White Post we crossed the main road, had a brief uphill followed by another welcome downhill. A short stretch of the Forest Way brought us to Hartfield in excellent time for lunch at the Anchor. After negotiating some vicious speed humps we stopped at Pooh Bridge – the adults seemed to be just as glad to race sticks as the children! The rain gradually got harder as we continued through the ford at Newbridge. Speeding on to Wych Cross the heavens opened and treated us to a stinging hailstorm. We took refuge in the Llama Park: of course it was sunny by the time we started off again! After spotting some deer, we sped down to Weir Wood Reservoir only to climb the steep hill the other side. A short section of Worth Way, more bridleways through Felbridge and the back of Newchapel, and more showers brought us back to sunny Lingfield. What changeable weather!
