Ride from Polegate, near Eastbourne, by Clem Report by Clem Collins Sunday started off overcast as we met at Polegate station. 9 Tandems arrived with their riders. We set of into the South Downs with a gentle climb up to Filching. Then a gently ride through Friston Forest to West Dean. We then went back through the South Downs to climb past the Long Man of Wilmington and a break at the car park looking at the Long Man. On setting off Tim had his usual punture. We then came off the Downs and headed north round Abbots woods to Upper Dicker / Lower Dicker We then crossed the busy A22 and headed up to Chiddingly for lunch. There was a small ja band playing which kept the younger members quiet. After lunch we did a short loop with a few hills to warm the legs up, then a long the flat section through Ripe and Chalvington to Arlington reservoir for a little break. We then headed over to the Old Loom Mill for afternoon tea, then down NCN Route 21 back to Polegate, with 36 miles done. The rain stayed away for the day but unfortunately so did the sun.
