Witley by Chris and Helen

Witley Station, organized by Chris & Helen

There was an excellent turn out for this ride starting from Witley Station with riders of 9 tandems and 2 solos gathering at the leaders' house. Those that had travelled up from the sunny coast were disappointed to find that the area was covered with low cloud but the day gradually brightened up. The route took us through Milford and Elstead and along a lane with an incredibly tight hairpin bend, and eventually to Binstead for lunch. The pub had a roaring fire so we all warmed up nicely while enjoying our lunch. As Binstead is on top of a hill we started off with a good downhill run followed by some really pretty little undulating lanes in the afternoon sunshine. We crossed the A3 on a new flyover that didn't appear on anybody's maps and finished off the ride with a little section of off road singletrack back the leaders' house after about 34 miles. We were treated to an excellent spread of toasted tea cakes and mince pies to round off a very pleasant ride.
