March 13th - Lingfield
Ride by Dave and report by Caroline
Approx. 40 miles starting at Lingfield, skirting the Ashdown Forest, lunch at Turners Hill, and return to Lingfield via flat lanes. Various options to shorten the route available. Possible coffee at Forest Row if we get a move on, afternoon tea can be either a Garden Centre or skipped depending on the weather/legs/motivation.
Six tandems, 2 from Kent and 4 from Surrey & Sussex, met up in Lingfield on a sunny and crisp morning. After passing the race-course, cycling through Dormansland and beside the hammer ponds, we were surprised to see that the pleasant weather had brought out so many golfers at Holtye. The road rolled along to Hartfield and there were excellent views from the higher sections of the Ashdown Forest. On arriving at Wych Cross, we decided to take an unplanned coffee stop at the Llama Park.
Duly refreshed, the small, twisty and hilly lanes took us to Horsted Keynes, and a track alongside the fishing lakes and towards lunch at Turners Hill.
Despite an excellent lunch, the morning's exertions meant that we returned to Lingfield by a short route via Blindley Heath.
